I need to take what?
Confused about the continuing education requirements for new licensees set forth by the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Commission? You’re not alone.
To start, if you received your salespersons license between December 1, 2007 and November 30, 2009, you are now required to complete specific continuing education courses in order to renew your license by the May 31, 2010 deadline. You should have received notification when you received your license, but if not, you can visit the SREC website to read the special notice.
The courses include one mandatory seven-hour module as well as one of two possible elective modules; each of which are also seven hours long. (The elective modules cover either residential or commercial real estate.) These courses vary in title from one real estate education provider to another. PRI will be offering classes that meet this requirement. The mandatory course is entitled “Mandatory Core Continuing Education Courses for New Licensees” and the residential elective is entitled “Elective Residential Focus Course for New Licensees.” More information on when and where these courses may be offered through PRI will be posted to the course calendar.
A complete list of licensed real estate education providers is available on the Commission’s website. If you received your license between the affected dates, it is best to check with your real estate education provider to make sure you are completing the correct courses necessary to renew your license. Those individuals who earned their licenses before December 1, 2007 can still complete these courses and receive the continuing education credits as well.
