Two PAR members were recently appointed to the State Real Estate Commission by Gov. Tom Corbett.

Joseph McGettigan, owner of Carr Real Estate in Delaware County, has been reappointed to the commission and W. Greg Rothman, chief executive officer of RSR Realtors® in Lemoyne, was appointed to his first term on the commission.

A licensed real estate broker for 40 years, McGettigan is also licensed in New Jersey and Maryland and will be serving his third, five-year term on the commission. He was first appointed to the commission in 2000 and has served as chair of the commission in 2004, 2007 and 2011.

McGettigan has taught for several real estate education providers, including the Pennsylvania Realtors® Institute and Temple University. He was the president of the Certified Residential Brokers (CRB) Pennsylvania chapter and served as a director at PAR and at TREND.

He enjoys serving on the real estate commission because he wants to have some affect on change. “If you feel strongly about our business, you should be involved,” he said. “I’ve been involved on the local and the state level of real estate over the years.”

Since joining the commission, McGettigan has seen the industry evolve. “I’ve seen quite a number of changes since I’ve been on the commission — continuing education, reciprocity, qualified associations, designated agencies — and I think it will continue to become more streamlined,” he said.

A third generation Realtor®, Rothman works with his father, Bill Rothman; his brother, Garrett Rothman; and his son Niko, also recently earned his real estate license. Rothman holds a degree from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in real estate from Johns Hopkins University.

Rothman is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and helped to found the Harrisburg Young Professionals. The organization is a creative catalyst for progress and is helping to make Harrisburg a more vibrant place to live and work. He is or has been on the boards of the Junior League of Harrisburg, the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors®, the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors®, the United Way of the Capital Region, the Trustees of the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and the National African American Cultural Center.

“I’ve spent my entire life in real estate and I’m honored and humbled to have been appointed to the Real Estate Commission,” Rothman said. “It’s an opportunity for me to give back to the industry that’s been good to me and my entire family.”
