EcoBrokers® = Ecosociates™

If your business card says “EcoBroker Certified®” and you have a real estate salesperson-standard license, you will need to make some changes to your business collateral. Pennsylvania non-broker licensees who have earned the EcoBroker® designation are now known as EcosociatesTM in Pennsylvania, to comply with the Real Estate Licensing and Registration Act (RELRA). You are still completing the EcoBroker® designation program but your business cards and other promotional materials should identify you as an EcosociateTM from here on out. Those licensed as brokers in Pennsylvania can still use the EcoBroker® trademark and logos.ecosociate

The change came about because of concerns that use of the word “broker” as part of the designation was confusing and potentially misleading to clients and fellow licensees. Moreover, referring to someone as a “broker” who is not licensed as such by the Commission is a violation of RELRA 63. P.S. §455.301: “engaging in or conducting the business, or acting in the capacity of a broker or salesperson [...] within this Commonwealth without first being licensed or registered.” A first offense can carry a $250 fine.

If you’ve already earned the designation and are looking for ways to identify yourself as an EcosociateTM, check your e-mail! EcoBroker® has sent information regarding this change and has supplied appropriate branding materials. If you did not receive the email, you can log in to your EcoBroker® account and download the necessary trademarks.
