Association News, Diversity, EducationPREF awards grant for diversity training
Diversity awareness is being incorporated into PAR’s leadership training this year, thanks to a grant from PA REALTORS® Education Foundation (PREF).
The diversity training is part of PAR’s ongoing Multicultural Strategic Plan, adopted by the board earlier this year.
“The plan outlines steps for the association to help PAR members learn more about business opportunities in multicultural markets and to help the association embrace diversity within its membership,” said L. Anthony Brown III, chair of PAR’s Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity Committee.
The diversity training titled “Leadership Across Diversity” was developed by the Gonzales Group, a nationally recognized multicultural consulting company. The course will be made available to local associations to use in leadership training.
PREF expanded its mission to include a grant program for projects designed to benefit the Pennsylvania real estate industry. The foundation’s mission is to enhance professionalism within the industry by supporting industry research and the development of timely, relevant and practical educational tools and projects.
“We’re happy to be part of the exciting work PAR’s Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity Committee is doing,” said Courtney V. Franklin III, PREF president. “This project aligned closely with the educational mission of PREF.”
This is the first grant awarded by PREF since its grant procedures were changed.
