Jeff Turner, President of Real Estate Shows, gave his perspective on integrating your blogging and web 2.0 efforts at the NYC Inman Conference this morning.

The true purpose of blogging is to engage people. The old method of just pushing data is no longer valid. As we all join various social networks like Twitter, Facebook, etc., we need to realize it is not a numbers game. Not all who follow us are created equally.

Stephen Downes suggests we focus on the four properties of engagement. People who follow us, and fall into these four categories, have huge spheres of influence and can be great advocates for our efforts.

1. Diversity – People who converse with a diverse range of people, from various demographics.

2. Autonomy – People who are free to speak their mind and do not just support the party line.

3. Openness – People who cross multiple networks and have an interest in many social networking vehicles.

4. Connectivity – People with an open mind who will listen to your point of view.

To draw more quality people into your inner circle, focus on influencers with the characteristics above. Take action by including these people in all that you do.
