REALTORS® who live in PPL or Duquesne Light service territories can earn cash back on their home and business electric bills, thanks to Energy Plus™, a new PAR Preferred PARtner program.

Energy Plus offers a unique, customized electricity program that gives members cash back benefits and monthly cost savings, without changing utility companies. There are no sign-up fees, cancellation fees or long-term commitments.

“This program is also available to businesses. Anyone who signs a commercial account will receive a five percent cash back rebate and a $50 activation bonus,” said Alicia Beerley, Energy Plus senior account manager. “By signing your home account, you’ll receive three percent cash back and a $25 activation bonus.”

If members aren’t located in these areas, they can complete an application to be placed on the waiting list and be notified when Energy Plus is available in their communities.

Energy Plus is risk free. There are no changes to the customer’s service and the customer’s utility company continues to deliver the electricity, bill the client, read the meter and handle any power outages. REALTORS® can also offer these money-saving benefits to their customers as a special closing offer.

To learn more about Energy Plus, call 877-232-7052 and mention offer code PAR-5026 or visit Energy Plus’ website. Visit PAR’s website to learn about other Preferred PARtners.

    Linda,
I’m not sure when Met Ed will be included, but you are able to sign up for a notification of when they are. Visit http://bit.ly/82KHUL and select your provider(Met Ed), you will be prompted to enter your contact information to be notified as soon as they offer service.

    Sandy:
Electric competition has been rolling out through PA over the last couple of years. In areas where competition exists, the existing company (PPL or Duquesne Light) is responsible for getting the power to your home, but consumers can select different companies to actually generate the power that goes into the grid. According to their site (see above) EnergyPlus has a price that is currently about 10% lower than the PPL or Duquesne price, so you’d get that price reduction plus the rebates.

The state has good resources explaining the process and showing some of the competitive pricing. I’d suggest viewing them at http://bit.ly/bN2is0, or http://bit.ly/dyWgvQ.

Energy Plus offers an overall lower electricity bill. If you currently purchase your electricity through PPL Electric Utilities or Duquesne Light Company then you are able to lower the generation rate approximately 10% by switching to Energy Plus. Your electric bill will still come from PPL Electric Utilities or Duquesne Light Company since they will still be the distributor of the electricity.

In addition to a lower monthly bill Energy Plus members will receive a cash back rebate check after every 12 months of active service and a $25 activation bonus check for residential accounts, mailed after 2 months of active service from Energy Plus.

Energy Plus will sell electricity to you at a lower cost than what your utility sells it for. Your utility will continue to deliver it to you, but not sell it to you.

Not sure what benefits we would have in the long run. Initially a 3% cash back and $25 activation fee, and we don’t have to change our utility company. What does Energy Plus do to lower our monthly costs? What service do they provide if the utility company will continue to deliver our electricity and handle our reading and provide bills?
