Harrisburg association builds on legislative successes

Responding quickly to local legislative issues is one of this year’s goals at the Greater Harrisburg Association of Realtors® (GHAR). With 1,525 members, GHAR is working to build its issues mobilization funds so the association is able to respond to the 103 local municipalities in three counties, according to 2010 President James Spagnolo.

Private transfer fees, AMCs and sprinklers bills introduced

Legislation prohibiting future private transfer fees (PTFs) was introduced in the Senate last week. Senate Bill 353, sponsored by Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny), will also place burdensome reporting and disclosure requirements on private transfer fee covenants that already exist.

PA Senate passes bill to prohibit future private transfer fees

The PA Senate passed Senate Bill 1481 today, moving it to the House of Representatives for consideration. The bill, introduced by Sen. Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny), a REALTOR®, would prohibit all future private transfer fees and create reporting and disclosure requirements on the administrators of the private transfer fees that already exist.

Fight private transfer fees now

REALTORS® are fighting private transfer fees (PTF) in Pennsylvania by responding to a Call-to-Action issued yesterday. Private transfer fee covenants are attached to the property deed forcing sellers to pay 1 percent of the purchase price to a private third-party entity every time the property sells over the next 99 years.
