Housing discrimination complaints drop last year

The PA Human Relations Commission (PHRC) saw a decline in housing-related complaints in the 2009-2010 fiscal year, according to Shannon Powers, communications director for the PHRC. There were 319 cases reported to the commission from July 2009 to June 2010, Powers said. This was down from the previous year when more than 350 cases...

HUD proposes rule protecting LGBT access to housing

The rule is intended to protect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals against discrimination by keeping rental housing and home ownership properties open to all. HUD’s proposed rule will prohibit inquiries about a prospective renter’s or homebuyer’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
